1st Manitoba Masters Reunion

Saturday, March 15, 2003 marked the 1st ever Manitoba Masters Reunion weightlifting competition, held at the Frank Kennedy Center, University of Manitoba. 7 master age athletes took to the stage in what was most definitely the funnest competition of the year. The gym was filled with positive humour and a friendly atmosphere as the athletes tested their skills in a competitive manner. But not all was fun and games, as on a serious note, each athlete set new Manitoba Masters records in their respective weight classes, and to top it off Mirek Korkowski set two new Canadian Masters records with a snatch of 97.5kg and a combined total of 207.5kg. Following the competition, each athlete was awarded a participation certificate on behalf of the Hercules Weightlifting Club and the Manitoba Weightlifting Association, and headed off to Pony Corral for supper, where they exchanged tales of the good ol' times. Big thank you to the volunteers and spectators who complimented the complete success of the event with their cheering and support!
